The Raid on Mount Oe: Shuten Doji's Keep酒呑童子討伐伝・酒呑童子の居城
Tasked with defeating Shuten Doji, the terror of Kyoto, Yorimitsu's band of warriors arrived at the Oni bandit's fortress.
At the gates, they were stopped by Shuten Doji's henchmen, who were suspicious of the group's intentions.
Claiming to be a party of monks who had been performing ascetic practices in the mountains, the warriors begged for one night's lodging and so were admitted into the fortress.
"Hail, good sirs! We appear to have lost our way. Might we prevail upon you to give us one night's lodging?"
Thus did Yorimitsu loudly call out before the heavy gates of Shuten Doji's mighty fortress, to which the fearsome guard replied:
"You wouldn't happen to be the warriors sent from Kyoto to defeat our master, would you?"
"Most certainly not! As you can plainly see, we are mere itinerant monks."
"Indeed, your garb would suggest as much. Very well. If you entertain us, we shall give you lodging. But should you fail to amuse us sufficiently, know that your puny lives shall be forfeit."
How should we entertain a den of Oni, you say?
Well, despair not, for I have an idea. I guarantee they will have never witnessed as graceful a dancer as I, Watanabe no Tsuna.
Pfft! Who do these Oni think they are that they would demand that we amuse them? I, Sakata no Kintoki, mightiest of the Four Heavenly Kings, shall crush them into dust!
A band of wandering monks, no less? What fun! Very well. Show them in and let them caper for us. When we tire of them, let us put them on a spit and roast them! Our master will surely be pleased!
